| NEW YORK, Jan 04, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- L-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL) announced today that it has appointed
retired General Richard A. Cody as vice president of Washington
Operations. He will report to Michael T. Strianese, L-3's chairman,
president and chief executive officer, and will be based in Washington,
D.C. General Cody succeeds retired General Jimmie V. Adams, who will
remain with L-3 in a consultancy role.
"Dick has a solid understanding of defense policy and priorities and has
spent the past year visiting and working with all of our L-3 companies.
His knowledge of our customers and our corporation makes him a valuable
resource for the company as part of our executive management team," said
Mr. Strianese.
General Cody, 59, joined L-3 in October 2008 and has served as a
corporate vice president. Prior to joining L-3, he served as the 31st
Vice Chief of Staff, U.S. Army, a position he held from 2004 until his
retirement from the U.S. Army in August 2008. With more than 36 years of
service, General Cody has served in command and staff positions
throughout the Army in the U.S. and overseas. He has also received major
military awards and decorations, including the Defense Distinguished
Service Medal, the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Bronze Star.
A graduate of the U.S. Military Academy, General Cody has completed
advanced military education coursework as well. He is also a Master
Aviator with more than 5,000 hours of flight time.
